India Bethania Orphange Project: Chowki (low lying desk)

I worked at an orphanage back home in India called Bethania Home. There the kids told me about how they write on the floor and don't have any form of desks and storage space for their books. With this in mind, I took inspiration from chowki's ( low lying desks ) and customized a storage box that can be used as a desk to write on and when turned over it becomes a mini chalk board. As these chowki's will have to be sponsored, the design had to be simple and cost effective.

The desk is built using metal rods and plywood. They can be carried using the wooden handle and even made by simply using a blowtorch and a saw.(If made in India they would each cost between 3 to 5 pounds to make.)
